"Breadboard" or "Test" Models
Primary uses:
Testing overall concept functionality
Testing of individual component systems (as divorced from the total system)
This model type is “down and dirty”, it has no regard for specific design appearance or form. These models are
constructed from various materials, often the correct material type as planned for production. There are no “housing”
parts associated with this type of model, and any mounting features are often attached to a plastic or plywood base
(hence the term “breadboard”).
The purpose of this model is to test assemblies or sub-assemblies, as necessary to determine whether the given
functional concept will work as anticipated. These models are often modified during the testing process, as new ideas for
improvement evolve.
